- KOOT -1 artwork
KOOT is the artistic moniker of Indo-European visual artist Ellen van Kooten. Her heritage serves as a symbolic foundation for her artistic identity, weaving cultural memory into visual language. She studied part-time at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA), MXtra24 Art Academy (Amsterdam), and the Nieuwe Academie Utrecht. Her name becomes an embodiment of her artistic practice. As a mixed media artist, she operates at the intersection of postmodern and Asian aesthetics, where core values such as learning, commitment, growth, resilience, and determination resonate. A visual thinker by nature, she has cultivated a personal vocabulary of forms. Her work merges abstract and figurative elements in layered compositions. Through multimedia objects and large-scale banners, she channels symbolic imagery rooted in her diasporic lineage.
